{Cyberquoll-episode1_04.png}
CyberQuoll is a key resource for investigating and teaching internet safety. Using computer-based activities, students can discover the good, bad and ugly sides of the internet. CyberQuoll is designed for use with students from the upper primary school levels and teachers are advised to review the resource to determine its suitability for, and relevance to, the particular needs of their students.
In order to actively engage students, so that they will participate in informed debate on the many issues that surface when using the internet, the CyberQuoll resource has been created in two key parts.
Part 1—CyberQuoll computer-based activities that follow our heroes (male or female) as they try valiantly to raise the knowledge of their bratty younger cousins of the internet and how to do great stuff while avoiding the nasties. These animations have been created for primary school students and are also accessible online.

THINK Acronym
Tell your Mum or Dad if you see something online that upsets you, or if someone makes you feel unhappy. You can also talk to a trusted adult like a teacher: they can help.
Hide your password. Only ever share it with your parents – never with your friends. Someone else could go online pretending to be you and do something that could get you into trouble.
Interesting websites can be fun. Check with Mum or Dad if a site is okay to use before you visit. Sometimes they can set up a good list of sites just for you.
Be Nice to people you talk to on the internet or phone. Name calling or being mean is not cool. Look out for yourself and for others.
Keep your special personal information safe. Never give your real name, address or phone number to anyone you don’t know in the real world. Use a nickname in chat rooms or when you play games on the computer.

The videos present four situations in four stories—offering many strategies to address the issues raised

Available on DVD too - use teacher discretion about using these videos. They are excellent but confronting (see below)
'Lauren's Ordeal'
Lauren goes to school one day and everything has changed. Her friends won’t talk to her, people laugh and point when she walks past and someone has sent her disturbing text messages.
'What the?'
Your computer takes ages to load programs and open files. You’re constantly bombarded with pop-ups. If this sounds familiar, watch this video and see how one guy helped protect himself and his computer.
'Jeremy's Friend'
Meet Jeremy. He’s having a hard time at school, his parents are always nagging him about something and life is pretty miserable. But he can escape it all in cyberspace.
'Stalking Sarah'
Sarah is a pretty active internet user. She’s a regular in chat rooms, often posts info in discussion groups and has visited a heap of websites. She meets some pretty interesting people online as well, people with similar interests…sport, music, movies and stuff like that. But when someone starts following her in cyberspace it gets pretty scary.
